Orissa Outreach
| We have had to temporarily suspend the majority of our work in Orissa following the recent unrest and violent attacks against Christians throughout the state. As soon as it is safe our work will resume. |
 Pastor Nayak |
Nehemiah Ministries supports 3 local evangelists who are working full-time in unreached parts of Orissa. We work closely with Pastor Nayak, an experienced pastor with his own large ministry in Orissa, who kindly provides local pastoral support to the evangelists. |
| Jaswant and Sachindra work in very remote parts of Orissa, travelling many miles by bicycle each day. As well as travelling to different villages to preach the Gospel, they both now pastor churches which serve several villages. | Sachindra's Church |

Our third evangelist, Surya, works in the Boudh district, one of the most difficult places to evangelise in India due to the opposition to the Gospel. Despite considerable persecution, he continues to preach boldly and God has used him mightily in this region. Surya has also set up three informal tutition centres in three villages, and an average of 20 students who would otherwise not receive any formal education attend these centres.

There are now over 100 new believers as a result of the evangelistic work in this region. Previously there were no churches within a 50 km radius of all the villages, but there are now 5 new fellowships overseen by our evangelists. The believers meet regularly in each others homes and call the fellowships Nehemiah Ministries Prayer Centres. They are all from the Kondh tribe.
